What the player cards table tells you

This table counts the yellow and red cards shown to each player. A yellow is a caution and two in one match mean a red. A straight red is a sending off for serious foul play or violent conduct.

Yellows decide the order, with reds breaking ties and shown in their own column. Cards per 90 adds both together and needs 180 minutes.

Defenders and holding midfielders collect most cards because their job is to stop attacks. Enough yellows over a season lead to a suspension, with the exact number set by each league's rules.
