What the fouls drawn table tells you
Fouls drawn counts the free kicks and penalties a player has won by being fouled. Quick players who dribble at defenders, and forwards who hold the ball up under pressure, are fouled most.
Each foul drawn gives a team a restart and slows the opposition, so the figure shows how much attention a player attracts from defenders.
Compare it with fouls committed. Players near the top of both are in the thick of every contest, while a high drawn and low committed player gets more from the referee than they give.
